How To MultiTrack Record With Garageband 09

Big O shows you what you need to know to use multitrack recording in GarageBand ’09. Here’s how he introduces this tutorial:

In this tutorial I walk you through how to do multitrack recording in Garageband 09. I’m not covering software instruments or MIDI, that will have to be a different tutorial.

Most of what I go over can be applied to previous versions of Garageband or other recording software as well, because there are always similarities with any multitrack software.

Thanks big Al. You know, i’ve only really messed with the portable multitrack units, and maybe Sonar once in a while, but GarageBand looks surprisingly simple and easy to use. I may try to find a demo and give it a spin. Cheers!

No need for a demo. It’s FREEeeee with every Mac. :)

Thanks for the video! I’d be so grateful if you could help me understand something. I’ve just spent several hours googling to no avail…if I am recording my voice as you did using a mic, how do you record your second track if you want to hear the original track being played back while singing your harmony and NOT have the microphone pick up the original track playing the background while you record the second track?

Hello Jack! Thanks for stopping by. If I understand your question right, the answer is simple…headphones!
