You can definitely use the Impact Twin with Garageband (or any Mac audio software). I use it with Logic Pro and it works great. The Impact Twin comes with a software interface called TC Near Control Panel. You can keep it open (as another program) while you're in Garageband to change settings, though some settings are adjustable from the front panel of the Impact Twin. Good luck with your purchase. I don't think you'll be sorry.

Glad you're enjoying yours. I've been blown away at how pristine even a basic mic sounds on acoustic guitars. The onboard compression and EQ are fantastic.

Can't offer anything on MOTU interfaces, but it blows away:

1. Old Focusrite Saffire
2. Line 6 Pod GX
3. Standard Mac audio interface

I will add that Focusrite also replaced my Saffire (even after the warranty period), but I was never happy after the phantom power failed and was basically just waiting for it to happen again.

This was comparing the TC unit to the ORIGINAL Focusrite Saffire…not the later versions.

Hi, great blog. Can use the Impact Twin with GarageBand '11?
How does it work using GB with the Impact Twin software? Do I keep two windows open, e.g. GB to record and the Impact Twin to adjust controls of the Impact Twin or will the Impact Twin be controlled by the GB controls? This would be my first audio interface. It will be used to record the stereo line out from a keyboard and the stereo line out from the TC Helicon VoiceLive 2 (voice processor). Thanks much for any help and advice. I too plan to choose this as an alternative to the Apogee Duet 2.

i have been recording for a while at home with the impact twin audio card, i have found that for acoustic instruments and voice this card is absolutely fantastic!!! my set up is Mac pro 2.66 Ghz Quad-Core intel xeon, universal audio preamp solo 610 ,AKG C414B, logic.
For a home studio set up this card has it all.
