UPDATED REVIEW: TC Electronics Impact Twin Audio Interface Versus The Focusrite Saffire
Shane Hendricks has updated his original review of the TC Electronics Impact Twin Audio Interface with a new video.
He’s now had some time to live with gear and work it into his studio workflow. Here’s Shane’s comments on the update:
“I received some negative feedback on the previous video for recording a “distorted” acoustic guitar directly from the acoustic pickup into the e Impact Twin using QuickTime (i.e., not a good demo and ‘I shouldn’t have done that’). And some of the flak came directly from a rep at one of my equipment suppliers (LOL).
“Anyway, the point of plugging the acoustic straight in and recording it into the “subpar” QuickTime (again…the previous video) was to show how decent the sound was using a meager setup.
“I’ve now updated this video with some more “polished” works in which I used the e Impact Twin. Hopefully that gear rep thinks this video is better (the schmuck).
”
Well I happen to like the original video too!
You can see them both in this post here.

Regarding the Impact Twin, I’m sure there are contented users but I’ve had nothing but trouble. I’ve had mine for almost two months and still can’t get it up and running despite daily communication with support. The problem seems to be software incompatability with Win XP SP3, something they should have sorted out before they introduced it. Anyway, I’m about to return for credit which will probably cost me a big penalty.
