Propellerhead’s New DAW “Record” – A Video Preview

Do we really need another DAW? Well, maybe.

Interest and curiosity sure are running high in regards to Propellerhead’s upcoming entry into the market with Record. The concept and approach are quite fascinating, and in a way, old school.

Have a close-up look at one of its channel strips and the main mixer, modeled after the SSL 9000k mixing console.

It would be really cool if the SSL console was modelled like Waves SSL plugin or something like analogue channel 1. Then I maybe would consider using this. IMHO they are about 4 years too late, Protools 8 has everything I need now.

Yes, there may not be a need to leave PT8 if that’s what you’re used to now. I’m sure I won’t either. However, it’s an interesting concept that I think will help a lot of people getting started, or that gave been unhappy with what they’ve been doing.

This is in fact modeled after a SSL console and includes the mix buss compressor. It does not accept plugins other than Reason and Line 6 hardware. In a way, I like this choice. It’s very old school, and a lot of great records got made in that school. Basically, here’s your board, here’s the FX you have in the studio, record something cool!
